Length of stay

For an intra company transfer visa, you can stay in the UK for the time give on your certificate of sponsorship plus 14 days, five years or the length of time it takes you to the maximum total allowed stay (whichever is shorter).

The maximum period of stay for an intra company transfer Visa is:

  • 5 years in any 6-year period if you’re paid less than £73,900 a year.
  • 9 years in any 10-year period if you’re paid £73,900 a year or more.

You can extend your Visa or apply for another one up to the maximum total stay. If you have already been in the UK with an intra company visa before your application, that time will be included in your total stay.

The maximum stay allowed is five years for a graduate trainee visa in any six-year period. You cannot extend a visa but you can apply for another or if you have been working for your sponsor outside the UK for three months.

If you are applying for another visa the time you have already spent will count towards your maximum period of stay.
